Psh.

Dells power consumption is also 300x more then the iMac for a untuned OS.

The iMac is pricier as it runs much cooler/quieter. It also made off of better materials (aluminum and glass vs plastic).

In the end I don't care if its more/less powered. It will be running far longer then the dell, plus I know I won't be absorbing hazardous chemicals when I touch my computer.

Most people go for performance, but for me how it is for the environment is much more of a priority.

@WTL - Oh yeah, last time I checked the pricing was MUCH closer.

I have a second TB drive mirroring my main computer already, which would mitigate that RAID 0 risk. While the speed gains of RAID 0 are tempting, I feel just as concerned as you about failure.

It looks like an iMac update is imminent so I'm playing wait-and-track-prices.

hmm... I need to get threaded comments turned on...

There seems to be a consensus of opinion that a new iMac, or at least a spec upgrade, is imminent in the next few months. I would wait and see what is on offer. I am! I want a new iMac, but it would be foolish to buy one now.

Curious that they'd use RAID 0 - that means if *either* drive fails, you loose *all* your data.

I'm a bit surprised with the price gap - the last time I did a comparison, they were pretty much equal - which was an easy decision. I'd say wait until you need to buy.
